Fostering Instrumental Techniques for Effective Research

To commemorate 25th year of excellence, Department of Chemical Engineering, School of Engineering, Institute of Technology, Nirma University conducted a National level online Short Term Training Programme on “Fostering Instrumental Techniques for Effective Research” on Cisco WebEx platform. The event was organised under Centre for Continuing Education, Nirma University during 27 -31 October 2020 with an aim to provide an inter-disciplinary forum for engineers, researchers and student technocrats to discuss and promote research & technology transfer of characterisation techniques in Science & Technology. E-certificate was provided to all the participants after conducting the online examination. The patron of the webinar were Dr. Sanjay Patel (HoD, Chemical Engineering Department) and Dr. Rajesh N. Patel (In charge-Director, Institute of Technology). The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Neha Patni and Dr. Amita Chaudhary with around 100 registrations across the country. The participants were from prestigious institutes, including, IITs, NITs, BITS Pilani, Central universities, and research organizations.

Panel of Speakers included Dr. Ramesh Gardas (Professor, Chemistry, IIT Madras), Dr. Narayanan D. Kurur (Professor, Department of Chemistry, IIT Delhi), Dr. Sudhanshu Sharma (Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, IIT, Gandhinagar), Dr. A. Ramanan (Professor, Department of Chemistry, IIT Delhi), Mr. A. Satyaprasad (Scientific Officer-E, Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar), and Dr. Debashis Ray (Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry, IIT Kharagpur).

Sessions on Acoustic, Volumetric, Transport and Refractive Properties, Ultraviolet Spectroscopy, NMR Spectroscopy, Infra-Red Spectroscopy, Electrochemical Techniques,

X-Ray Diffraction Analysis, SEM and TEM Analysis for Surface Morphology, Thermal Analysis Techniques and Importance of Instrumental Techniques in Research were conducted successfully.
