Congratulations to Aryan Patel (20BCH006), student of 8th semester, Chemical Engineering Department on achieving the best poster award at the prestigious international conference RAWMU-2024 hosted at LPU, Jalandhar, Punjab on April 23-24, 2024.
Avadhi Jain, Heli Modi and Uchitesh Shettyan received Best Paper Award in 2nd International Conference on Recent Trends in Materials Science & Devices 2023 Organised by Research Plateau Publishers in association with Sat Kabir Institute of Technology & Management Bahadurgarh, Haryana. They were mentored by Dr. Nimish Shah.
On 24th January,2023, the students of Institute of Technology (Chemical Engineering Department), Nirma University had participated in the poster competition in the 14th Open House at the Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute (SPRERI), Anand, Gujarat.
The purpose was to create awareness of different renewable energy technologies among students, faculties, and the community. A poster presentation was organized on the theme “Renewable energy technologies for green India.”
Kunjan Pandya and Avni Nathani under the guidance of Dr. Jayesh Ruparelia won the first prize in the poster competition. The poster was on the title: Production of Green hydrogen by electrolysis of water using solar energy.
The International Conference on Material for Sustainable Energy, Environment, and Health (IMSEEH) took place at Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) on December 8–9, 2023. Eight students from V semester Chemical Engineering under guidance of Dr. Narasimha Reddy Ravuru attended the conference. Himandri Zala, Mahek Vyas and Romil Amipara presented a paper on “An energy efficient and renewable hydrogen production from glycerol over nickel based catalyst doped with different promoters on alumina.” and they have been awarded for the best oral presentation at the IMSEEH 2023 conference.
Dhruvik and Het participated in the Chemathon competition organized by IIT Bombay and represented Nirma university and secured the 3rd rank in the competition.
On 5th March 2023, Ananya Singh (21BCH004) and Uchitesh Shettyan (21BCH060), students of Semester- IV under the guidance of Dr.J.P.Ruparelia , from Department of Chemical Engineering , IT-NU, participated and won the 1st place in Synopsis (Paper Presentation), held under “Footprints’2023 ” organized by Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda.
On 3rd February 2023, Aryan Anand(Roll Number: 20BCH005), a student of Semester-VI, from the Department of Chemical Engineering, IT-NU, participated and won the 1st Place in Battle of Wits(Debate) held under “Elysian-5.0-National Fest” organised by the Institute of Commerce, Nirma University, Ahmedabad
Team CHEMO – TRI had won the 2nd position at National Level Competition – QUMICON – CHEM-BLAZE on 13th of November organized by IIChE VIT& IIChE RGIPT. They went through 3 rounds: Round 1.) Prelims: Online Chemical Engineering Quiz (Ended with 2nd Position) Round 2.) Elimination: Online Spontaneous Speech on Natural/Chemical Phenomenon (Ended with 1st Position) Round 3.) Finals: Online Case (Industrial Disaster) Study Round (Ended with 2nd Position).
The research paper “Process optimization & reactive extrusion of high-molecular weight Poly(butylene-adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) polymer for film blowing application” published by Narasimha Reddy Ravuru and Parin Shah was selected for ISSN International Science & Technology Awards and Congress (IISTAC-2022) in association with World Research Council in the fascinating ceremony on 3rd November, 2022 at Grandeur Hall, Breeze Residency, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India, under the title, “INTERNATIONAL BEST RESEARCHER AWARD”. It also provides an opportunity to get life time membership of world Research Council along with article writing and publishing in Times of Research for a year and one full page profile showcase in Z24 News.
Dhananjay Dileep, an alumnus of the department now, received “Graduate Research Initiative Fellowship” and the “James Katzer Energy Fellowship” as a graduate student at Iowa State University
The Storm Case Challenge “Industrial Problem Solving” competitions organized by the Thermax Global Pvt. Ltd. for Chemical Engineering Students across India. The challenge involved a real-life industrial problem.The top five teams, selected from across India, proceeded into the final round. The Department takes immense pride as all the Three Prizes 1st, 2nd and 3rd were bagged by students from Chemical Engineering Department. The winning teams received cash prizes of Rs. 50,000/-, Rs. 30,000/- and Rs. 20,000 respectively.

Ms Shivangi Goswami, a student of MTech (EPD), won the first position in ISTE-IPCL Best M Tech Thesis Award in Chemical Engineering for the thesis titled, “An Environment Friendly Approach : In-Vessel Composting and Anaerobic Digestion for Methane Gas Generation from Secondary Sludge of GESCSL, CETP-Vatva, Ahmedabad” (January 2019)
Mr Rushabh Patel and Mr Meet Shah, students of BTech Semester VI, won the best paper award in the National Youth Summit for their paper titled, “Solar Photoreactors: A Comprehensive Review” held at B.K. School of Management (January 2017)
Ms Darshana Poshiya, a student of MTech (EPD), won the first position in ISTE-IPCL Best MTech Thesis Award in Chemical Engineering for the thesis titled, “Affordable Pd Doped Perovskite based Catalytic Converter for Abating Automotive Emission” (December 2017)

Celebrating the Chemical Engineering Department’s Triumph in Volleyball
In a recent Inter-Institute Volleyball Competition, two of our students, Utkarsh Thumar and Meet Shah, demonstrated exceptional skills. Utkarsh, as a spiker, showcased flawless precision, while Meet’s relentless play kept the opposition on their toes.
Shruti Mishra had the opportunity to represent the Institute of Technology, Nirma University at a National level sports competition organized by BITS Pilani, during 21st to 28th September and emerged as the winner of the tournament.
Gunjan Rathi 22BCH012 along with Palak Rathod 22BEI043 (Doubles – Winner) displayed outstanding performance in the Inter-Institute Carrom Tournam
The department is very happy to share that our alumni Darshana Poshiya (M.Tech-2015-2017) cleared GPSC Administrative Services with the rank 55. She got posted as an Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, Class 1.
